Father Matthew Smith's First Mass

On June 5, 2022, Father Matthew Smith celebrated his first mass at his home parish: St. Patricks, York. Father Smith was ordained to the Harrisburg Diocese on June 4, 2022 at St Patricks Cathedral, Harrisburg. Before this, he spent his seminary years at Mount St. Mary's.

This weekend was filled with so much love, joy, and prayer. It was a celebration of everything God has worked through Father Smith. He asked many of his seminary friends and brother priests to help him celebrate his first mass, including four of St Patrick's previous pastors: Father Tony Miller, Father Samuel Houser, Father Keith Carrol, and Father John Bateman. He also asked his good friend Deacon Rich Groff to assist him during the mass.

Father Smith was surrounded by friends and family this weekend and we want to thank everyone for their prayers, support, and time over the past years. It was an honor to be able to watch and capture the beginning of Father Matthew Smith's ministry.
