For those of you who don't know, my sister does a lot of camping and when I told her I wanted to go too, we quickly made plans to go to Shenandoah National Park! It was my first time visiting a national park and lemme tell ya, America did not disappoint! The mountains were GORGEOUS, even when we were surrounded by clouds. I was slightly inexperienced for some of the hikes -- mainly Old Rag. I've never done a rock scramble before, so it was definitely a little scary for me but Elyse got me through it. Sadly we didn't get to see the view from summit because we were standing in the middle of a cloud but I'm glad we did it. The next day we went on a few smaller hikes around the park and then hung out at the lodge.
My legs are definitely sore, and I'll admit I'm slightly sleep deprived. The showers weren't ideal but they 100% got the dirt and sweat off. The campfires were small, but we still ate our weight in s'mores. Bugs attacked me and I tripped over a ton of rocks. I spent some quality time with my sister. We saw God's glorious creations. My first camping trip was a success and I CANNOT wait to go on another one. Thank you, Shenandoah for being my first national park and thank you Elyse for showing me the ropes.
